CYBERSECURITY / SYSTEMS

Cybersecurity Competition

A team-based cybersecurity competition involving compromised Windows virtual machines, networking, troubleshooting, and system hardening.

Windows Networking Cybersecurity Virtual Machines

Overview

I worked as part of a four-person team in a cybersecurity competition where we were responsible for recovering and securing compromised Windows virtual machines.

The Challenge

The environment contained misconfigured and compromised systems that required us to identify problems, restore functionality, and improve the security of the machines.

Troubleshooting

The competition required us to investigate configuration problems rather than simply following predetermined instructions.

This included reviewing system settings, network configuration, remote access services, DNS-related behavior, and security settings.

Teamwork

With multiple machines and problems occurring simultaneously, our team had to divide work, communicate discoveries, and coordinate changes without interfering with one another.

Result

Our four-person team finished second in the competition.

What I Learned

The competition gave me practical experience troubleshooting systems under pressure and reinforced how networking, operating systems, security, and system administration interact.
